Over the past year or so, we’ve been able to host watch parties and enjoy dinosaur movies, documentaries, and TV shows with patrons of our podcast.
Some were better than others, some were nostalgic, and all were fun to watch with fellow dinosaur enthusiasts.
If you’re looking for a dinosaur show to watch, here’s a list to get you started (in no particular order).
And after, if you’re looking to learn even more about dinosaurs, check out all the episodes of our podcast.
Dinosaur Movies

Of course, we did have to start with the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World franchise. Rexy!
“Hold onto your butts.”

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Where we get back to horror and suspense with the dinosaurs.

A 1914 animated short film, and the first animated film to feature a dinosaur. Gertie was part of Windsor McCay’s vaudeville act, where she performs tricks.

A silent film about explorers of a lost world. Features stop-motion by Willis O’Brien of Allosaurus, Trachodon, Triceratops, and more. (Unfortunately, the people haven’t all aged as well as the dinosaurs, as there is a character in blackface.)

Yes, Kong is the star but you can also see stop-motion by Willis O’Brien of Stegosaurus, Brontosaurus, and T. rex.

A fantasy adventure film based on a 1918 novel. During WWI a British crew end up on an uncharted subcontinent, where they confront dinosaurs.

Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend
A paleontologist and her husband try to protect a baby sauropod and its parents.

Teenagers get sucked in to their favorite TV show, and they encounter dinosaurs such as T. rex and Triceratops.

We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story
An animated film about four intelligent prehistoric animals: a T. rex, Triceratops, Pterodactyl, and Parasaurolophus.

Disney’s Dinosaur, a film about a young Iguanodon adopted by a family of lemurs, and their journey with other dinosaurs to the “Nesting Grounds.” The realistic animation still looks great.
Dinosaur Documentaries

Hosted by Christopher Reeve, and features the paleontologists Jack Horner, Robert Bakker, Phil Currie, and Dale Russell. Dinosaurs include hadrosaurs, Struthiomimus, Deinonychus, T. rex, Brontosaurus, and Monoclonius.

A six-part nature documentary series, featuring Coelophysis, Diplodocus, Leaellynasaura, Tyrannosaurus, and more.

Allosaurus: Walking With Dinosaurs
All about poor Al, the adolescent Allosaurus who led a rough life.

Stories of dinosaurs throughout the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous, told in a nature documentary style.

A recreation of Late Cretaceous dinosaurs, with paleontologist Scott Sampson explaining the scientific discoveries behind the story.

A mini series where Nigel Marven travels back in time to collect dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals for the wildlife park Prehistoric Park.

An IMAX documentary about dinosaurs from the Triassic in New Mexico, the Cretaceous in Mongolia, and research from the American Museum of Natural History.

A mini series where “John Hurt narrates the gory, bleak stories of the brutal relationship between the ancient apex predators and their gigantic herbivorous prey.”

“Follow the Bones is 45 minute documentary film about a high school science teacher who stumbled upon a massive, life-changing fossil site while on a picnic on labour day weekend in 1971. It’s a story about collaboration between amateur rock hounds & fossil enthusiasts, and world-famous palaeontologists.”

The Story of Scotty the T. rex
“In 2019, Scotty was proclaimed the biggest in the world. Believed to be a female, she measured over 13 m or just over 42.6 feet long with a weight of over 8.8 metric tons. Discovered in the dinosaur rich Frenchman Formation, Scotty’s bones have been carefully preserved and are stored at the T.rex Discovery Centre in Eastend, Saskatchewan.”
Dinosaur TV Shows

A miniseries based on the books, featuring Ankylosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Chasmosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Stegosaurus, T. rex, Triceratops, and more

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous
