The dinosaur of the day: Stegoceratops
- Hybrid of Triceratops, Stegosaurus, some sort of beetle, some sort of snake, and cuttlefish
- Has a Triceratops head with frill and horns (though has longer brow horns), and plates like Stegosaurus on its back and thagomizers on the tail
- Sometimes seen as with a nasal horn, sometimes seen with a nasal boss instead
- Hybrid dinosaur, briefly seen on a computer screen in Jurassic World
- Designed by Henry Wu, but unclear if it was created in the movies
- Was going to be in Sector 5 on Isla Nublar in Jurassic World, but was cut from the plot
- Was going to reveal that Wu was making more hybrids than Indominus, but Colin Trevorrow’s son suggested taking it out to make Indominus rex stand out more
- Name means “roofed horned face”
- Estimated to be about 30 to 33 ft (9 to 10 m) long and weigh 11 to 15 tons
- Had a large beak
- May have had exo-skeletal armor, from its beetle elements
- May be able to see infrared, from its snake elements
- May be able to camouflage, from its cuttlefish elements
- Also may have elements of a flatfish (to extract oxygen from water) and jellyfish (to be bioluminescent), based on these species being depicted as computer renderings next to Stegoceratops
- Front feet have five toes each, and back feet have three toes each
- Can see Stegoceratops in Jurassic World: The Game (fuse level 40 Stegosaurus and level 40 Triceratops)
- In Jurassic World: Evolution, likes to eat rotten wood, but also eats horsetails and palms
- In the game, is part of herds of three to eight Stegoceratops
- Also in the game, makes cattle and groaning sounds
- In the game, can run through Ceratosaurus with one of its horns (and kill it)
- Also in LEGO Jurassic World: The Indominus Escape (one of the dinosaurs that helps Owen Grady and Claire Dearing corral Indominus rex)
- Also has Stegoceratops toys
Fun Fact:
Dinosaurs can communicate through their eggshells with their siblings before hatching.
